From what I hear, Burton Snowboards owns Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex Bearings. They also own Gravis Footwear, which is a totally lame shoe company. This is all bad news.
The good news? Habitat is starting a shoe division. Why? Nobody knows. How many successful board companies have a successful line of shoes? Answer: NONE! Element has tried this and to my knowledge, sucks at it. Nobody wants to have the same branded shoes as boards. There is really no good reason for this, but it is true. It is true that Independent doesn’t make decks. Spitfire doesn’t make trucks, and Girl doesn’t make wheels (ok they do, but I’m trying to make a point). It is just the way the industry works. Look at Tum Yeto: They have Toy Machine and Foundation making decks, Pig wheels making wheels and bearings, Ruckus making trucks and Dekline making shoes. These are all different brands, but under the same Tum Yeto umbrella… it works. What wouldn’t work? Toy Machine Shoes. Why? I told you, I don’t know, It’s just stupid.
The team is Marius Syvanen, Austyn Gilette, Guru Khalsa, and Alex Davis.
Here are the shoes:
