Skatemodo Interviews Post22

I got to talk with James from Post22. I requested an interview after I witnessed the gnarliness of Issue 20 shown here below. Make sure to read the interview underneath the video.

skatemodo: Who and What is Post22?

Post22 Post22 stands for milepost 22 in Nags Head, NC. It’s where I am from and where my friends and I grew up skateboarding.

skatemodo: Do you guys all live in the Triangle?

Post22 Not really. We are pretty much scattered from the beach to the mountains in NC. We film the bulk of our videos around the Triangle area though.

skatemodo: How long have you been doing this?

Post22 Post22 started about a decade ago. I’ve been making skate videos for a little longer than that.

skatemodo: Is that Jed Shooter with a Post22 tat?

Post22 Yup. He is one of the many that have them.

skatemodo: What is your goal for the site? Where do you see post22.com in 5 years? (besides being at the same web address)

Post22 I haven’t planned that far down the line with Post22. I already have a job in film that I really enjoy, so as long as I keep Post22.com alive for my skate video projects, that’s fine with me.

skatemodo: Your films look amazing. What do you use? (camera and software)

Post22 We film with a bunch of Canon HV30s and a Canon 7D. I edit in Final Cut and After Effects.

skatemodo: Where is your favorite place in the Triangle to skate?

Post22 Anywhere with smooth ground, but I really like the yellow ledge that has been popping up in all of our recent clips.

skatemodo: What do you think of the new durham skatepark?

Post22 I think it’s great that they built it. As long as there are a bunch of kids skating it, then I think it’s perfect. It’s not something that I would ever want to skate though. The only parks I enjoy are the simple ones with wide open space and a nice ledge or two.

skatemodo: So do you post everything you do online? or is there something bigger in store?

Post22 I don’t post everything online. I like to save clips as much as the next guy. We are just now starting to work on an upcoming project called Film & Destroy. I’ll have more information about that later.

skatemodo: Do you guys get any support or sponsorship from any body/shops?

Post22 Post22 doesn’t have any sponsors or anything like that. I host the site with my own money, buy all of my own equipment, etc.. I like it better that way

skatemodo: If you had to pick one guy to film from post22, who would it be?

Post22 Well I like filming with everybody. But the guy who gets footage the fastest would definitely be Justin Brock.

skatemodo: If you had to kick one guy out of post22, who would it be?

Post22 I don’t think it’s possible to get kicked out of Post22 since we’re not really a team. Whoever appears on Post22 is whoever wants to come skate and film.

skatemodo: It looks like you guys go to a lot of clubs, at least that seemed to be a theme in issue 20, what’s the best bar in Raleigh?

Post22 The best bar for drinking is Raleigh Times and the best bar for dancing is 5 Star.

skatemodo: Best trick from issue 20?

Post22 That’s a tough one. I liked Sam’s switch backside flip down the Durham set a lot. It looked really weird on film, but it’s a pretty awesome trick.

skatemodo: Who’s the best ripper in the Triangle right now?

Post22 Jed Shooter and Conner Champion.
