I forcibly introduced myself to Jed at the Durham Skatepark a few weeks back and he graciously let me ask him some questions. He’s a pro for Finesse and all ’round awesome dude. Here’s the interview:
Skatemodo: Where did you grow up? And where did you skate growing up?
Jed: Fayetteville NC. I grew up skating in the driveway with my brothers. My mom used to take all of us to sk8 contest all over the east coast, we always packed in “Van-essa” (moms full size van.)
Skatemodo: How long have you been pro?
Jed: Just over a year.
Skatemodo:Tell me about “Time To Believe” (Release Date’s, your part etc.)
Jed: It looks to be real sick! there are some good guys on the team now. Brebt Willard is one to watch for along with Anthony Moseley, Joey Marshall and Julian Christianson.
Well I guess the release date has been getting pushed back all thanks to me. I sold my vx1000 a while back and bought a hv30 hd cam which I’ve been filming with ever since. I sent in all the footy i had for the video in hd and some unused sd footy for bonus. They told me to film more sd stuff so my part would match up with everyone else’s. I didn’t have long but i think im pretty much finished with it now. James tupper from post22.com is going to be editing my part – another reason it’s taking so long.
Skatemodo: When did you realize you had a chance at going pro?
Jed: I don’t know. When I got focused I guess.
Skatemodo: How is being pro different or the same as you dreamed it would be?
Jed: It’s different but I’m just hyped on skating right now, pro or not, I just wanna skate.
Skatemodo: Did you get more friends when you went pro?
Jed: Tons
Skatemodo: Have you met Kareem? (for some reason, I thought he was part of finesse, is that true?)once at a trade show for like five min.
Jed: He had a limited edition board with us then he did city stars again so it was short lived. Reems always down for Finesse and vice versa.
Skatemodo: Who is your favorite person to skate with?
Jed: All the post22 heads!
Skatemodo: Tell me about your brother.
Jed: That’s one bad mother f*#@#$r. He is why I skate. He always helps keep me going and made sure I filmed and skate to the best of my ability.
Skatemodo: Are you older or younger?
Jed: I’m younger.
Skatemodo: Are you guys competitive with each other? Any good stories?
Jed: Not anymore but I never forget the first time I beat him in a contest. It was a Tampa am in like the mid ninety’s or some sh*t. Chad ruled all the contest in the 80′s and early 90′s.
Skatemodo: Does he want to go pro? and why haven’t you hooked him up? Jed: He does his own sh*t. Edit
Skatemodo: What is your nickname?
Jed: When I was a kid it was “jed the shred” They tried calling me “the milkman” recently but it didn’t stick.
Skatemodo: Of everyone you know, who has the best nickname, what is it?
Jed: My boy Mike Mavrick for sure. We call him “Rails” because for a little while in the beginning he always had them on his shredstick.
Skatemodo: After meeting me (Toban), what do you think my nickname should be?
Jed: “Moped Man.”
Skatemodo: Worst injury?
Jed: Sore subject.
Skatemodo: Best skateboarding moment?
Jed: Ten minutes ago when my dog was pulling me around the apartment complex.
Skatemodo: When do you think you’ll quit your job and become a famous superstar?
Jed: Next week.
Skatemodo: What is your relation to Post22.com? And what the heck is it?
Jed:Team manager. It damn good site to check on the regular for good skating, fun, and media knowledge. James tupper is the master mind behind everything and I just try to keep everyone motivated.
Skatemodo: Is the Finesse crew going to go on tour? when? where?
Jed: We would have to ask Finesse that.
Skatemodo: I love the lion with the crown on your pro deck, what is the significance of the that?
Jed: Not real sure, Steve James does all the graphics and is responsible for all that. I just ride em’.
Skatemodo: What is your full name? Why did your parents name you Jedediah? (Awesome name by the way).
Jed: Jedidiah Samuel Shooter, every brother has a biblical name.
Skatemodo: Where is your favorite place to skate?
Jed: Durham courthouse.
Skatemodo: What is your favorite movie(non skateboard)?
Jed: The Notebook.
Skatemodo: What is your favorite skate video?
Jed: Fully Flaired.
Skatemodo: Where would you move to if you could?
Jed: Italy or Spain.
Skatemodo: Who are your other sponsors?
Jed: Roughneck Hardware, Endless Grind, Domestic’s Clothing.
Skatemodo: Do you wear purple skate shoes like everybody else?
Jed: I wear blue suede shoes.
Skatemodo: What is the next trick you want to learn?
Jed: Front tail to switch back tail, and switch back tail 360 shuvit.
Skatemodo: If you could be pro at any other sport, what would it be?
Jed: Golf!!!!
Skatemodo: Duke, Carolina, or State?
Jed: State. You are talking about best campus to skate right?

Good post. I learn one thing tougher on completely different blogs everyday. It’ll all the time be stimulating to read content from different writers and follow a bit of something from their store. I’d choose to use some with the content on my weblog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a hyperlink on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
